Statistics: Russia’s inflation at 2.22% in February 26–Mar 4

MOSCOW, Mar 9 (PRIME) -- Russia’s consumer price inflation sped up to 2.22% in the week from February 26 through March 4 from 0.45% in the previous week, and reached 3.46% since January 1, the Federal State Statistics Service said on Wednesday.

Prices for fruit and vegetables grew by 2.9% on average, including the price for bananas and tomatoes that rose by 7.2% and 7.7%, respectively, for cabbage by 3%, for carrots by 2.6%, for beetroot by 1.1%, for cucumbers it decreased by 0.9%, for potatoes increased by 0.5%, for apples by 1.6%, and for onions by 1.3%.

Prices for cars of national brands grew by 17.09%, of foreign brands by 15.2%, for appliances rose by 14.56–14.97% due to the Western sanctions.

The prices for gasoline and diesel fuel remained flat on the week.
